St Bees Village Primary School

Headteacher: Mrs Emma Sharp

Welcome back to the spring term.  I hope you had a great Christmas and New Year!

Spring Newsletter

We have lots planned again this term, including our exciting residential to Lockerbie Manor.  More information will follow regarding this.

We plan to engage the children in some more outdoor learning including Forest School.

Mrs Storey will now teach the children on Fridays.

It is with great pleasure that I can inform you that Yr 3 & 4 will be putting on a show at the end of the Spring Term. I am sure you will agree it will be lovely to be able to get back to these events x

The children will continue to work very hard this term.

In English we will be specifically looking at Co-ordinating conjunction, fronted adverbials, expanding clauses and writing in paragraphs. There are daily guided reading sessions and specific lessons dedicated to SPaG. Handwriting will be a focus this half term. The children will also have a weekly spelling task.

In Maths the children will be having a daily fluency session, which involves rapid recall of known facts. The will also be covering Geometry, Money and decimals, place value and times tables. It is vital that the children know by heart their times tables. Engaging with TTRS for 5/10 min a day will greatly improve this.

The children will continue to follow a rich and varied curriculum in all of the foundation subjects.
