Welcome to Year 4!

I am Mr Lloyd and I am very excited to be working with you all again this year! Below are a few brief details for you to be aware of and if you have any further questions please get in touch. Please see our separate pages to view our curriculum newsletter, detailing all areas to be studied across all subjects and our weekly timetable.

Homework
Homework will comprise of reading at least three times a week, online activities, spellings and a writing task. Homework will be set on a Friday and scheduled for return the following Friday. All homework tasks will be displayed on our website page and posted on our Class Dojo page.

Tasks will cover work completed in the previous week or planned for that week. Most homework activities will be set online, on EducationCity, TTRockstars, Spelling Shed or MyMaths. Your child will bring home details of how they can login, but if you have any issues, please do not hesitate to contact me. Alternatively, some weeks, your child will be set a practical activity or game using everyday items.

All homework is not compulsory each week, but it is designed to support our learning in class. However, please do not try to cram in all activities and extra work at home to the detriment of other activities, such as clubs etc. As sometimes busy life styles can get in the way and I would much rather your child go to swimming, dancing, cubs, beavers, rainbows or other social and sporting outlets than cramming in all homework tasks, so please just do as much as you can with a good balance.

Submitting homework                                                                                                                                                                                                                                For submitting your homework, I will be notified when you have completed online learning tasks and please post all other tasks to our portfolio page on Class Dojo.
I would like to keep printing to a minimum, however if you do not have access to the internet or printing, then please let me know if you would like a paper copy of the homework.

Reading Scheme
Reading folders and new reading books will be given out each Thursday to return to school on the following Thursday to allow new books to be set. Please ensure your child brings their reading folder into school each Thursday ready for change over. If your child is a free reader, then please continue to read for a range of purposes and with a range of texts and we will monitor their continued progress within school too.

When is PE?
PE will be taught on a Thursday afternoon, so please ensure your child comes to school in their school PE kit on this day each week. Please also make sure they have an extra warm layer of clothing, as the weather starts to turn colder and a pair of trainers. Please remember to tie long hair up and remove (or cover) any earrings or jewellery to avoid injury or loss of valuable objects.

Using the lower KS2 junior door
As was the case last year, our door for coming into and out of school for home time is the lower junior door by the PE Shed, next to the hall.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me via email or on Class Dojo.
