Yr 4!!! Look what I found!!!!!

Welcome to Year 4

I hope you have all had an enjoyable (if slightly different) summer holiday. I'm sure you will be eager to get your children back to school and to some kind of 'normality'. I am very much looking forward to working with your children and teaching them in Year 4!

Usually at the start of the year we have a face to face meeting with parents, however this year it is obviously not possible. I will try to give you as much information as possible but as always, feel free to email me with any questions you may have or that may arise.

Staffing Structure

Monday - Mrs O'Reilly

Tuesday am - Mrs O'Reilly - pm Mr Lloyd

Wednesday - Mrs O'Reilly

Thursday am - Mr Lloyd - pm Mr Dawson (PE)

Friday - Mrs O'Reilly

The plan is to assess the children initially when we start back, this will give me an understanding of the next steps in their learning, highlight any gaps from Year 3 and enable me to set targets.

PE will be on a Thursday afternoon, taught by our sports coach, Mr Dawson. Children must arrive at school on a Thursday in their PE kits. Please ensure they are dressed for outdoor weather and trainers. This is to limit the movement of children around school and ensure PE kits are taken home and washed.

Homework will be set on a Friday and is expected to be completed online by the following Friday. It will consist of Maths and English tasks either to consolidate learning in class;target work to plug gaps in learning or to extend learning further.

Please note, Our class text is a novel and there is a substantial amount of reading to get through. I will set reading throughout the week and will always provide a timescale of when it must be completed. It is imperative that the reading is finished otherwise it will impact on their classwork- as i will set tasks in relation to their understanding of the text. The text we are reading is Mary Poppins by P.L Travers. If you are able it is a good idea to purchase the book to enable them to refer to the text however this is certainly not a necessity but something to consider.

Looking forward to our adventures in Year 4
