Music Day photographs

We had a fantastic day on our Music Day.  We enjoyed a Djemba drum workshop where we learned a traditional African story about chickens and cockerels, called 'Ko - Ko - Rio - Ko'.  We played the Djemba drums to accompany the story.

We watched clips about a traditional Indonesian type of music called Gamelan.  We had a Gamelan workshop where we got to play a simple Gamelan song using the traditional instruments!  It was very difficult But lots of fun!

The Rosehill Choir taught us a song called 'Ooo La La Lay'.  We learned the song and performed it to the whole school in the concert at the end of the day (as well as our drumming).

The theme for our class was Rock/Festival music!  We watched clips of Glastonbury Festival and listened to some songs and learned the lyrics.  We particularly enjoyed Bon Jovi 'Living on a Prayer' to which we compared and contrasted the original version with an acoustic version and then we loved Pink Floyd 'Another Brick in the Wall'.  We particularly enjoyed shouting the line 'Hey! Teachers! Leave those kids alone!'  Again we compared and contrasted this original version of the song to the Eric Pridz remix.  We then had our own festival in the classroom where we sang the songs while we accompanied them with percussion instruments!
