Year 3- Information for Summer Term 2021
I hope that you have all had a fabulous Easter holiday and have enjoyed having slightly more freedom to get out and about; the weather has certainly helped!
This term in Year 3, the following staff members will be working with your children:
- Mrs George- Monday and Tuesday all day, Wednesday (morning only) and Thursday all day (Friday is my day off.)
- Mrs Irving- Friday all day (Maths, English grammar, Science and RE.)
- Mrs Agnew (TA) 1:1 support.
- Miss Millburn (ICT) - Monday afternoon (1 hour lesson.)
- Mr Dawson (PE coach) - Wednesday afternoon.
All children should come to school in PE kit each Wednesday when they will be coached by our PE coach, Mr Dawson- kit required is as follows: navy shorts, white t shirt, tracksuit bottoms/top and trainers. Please note that no items of jewellery should be worn to school- this includes any kind of watch or fitbit; any child whose hair is longer than shoulder length should also have it tied back. PE will start on Wednesday 21st April.
Homework will still be set each Monday (this will be displayed on the Year 3 page on the school website under the heading ‘Homework- Summer Term') and will be due to be completed by the following Monday- activities each evening should take no more than 20 minutes. The homework will reinforce work done in class during the week and will include: Spellings, Reading, English and Maths using Education City and MyMaths or be of a research nature. I do not intend to print off any homework; however, if you need a hard copy, please let me know and I will print it off for you. Homework will start in the first week of term on Monday 19th April. Please send your child’s reading folder/books back to school on the first Friday of term so that we can get them changed and ready to hand back out on Monday 26th April.
With the warmer summer weather on its way, please can you make sure that your child brings a sun hat and a water bottle to school each day and has suncream applied before coming to school. There are plenty of suncreams on the market that provide at least 8 hours of protection so, if applied before coming to school, this would last for the whole school day. However, if suncream does need re-applying at school, children will have to do this themselves under supervision from staff; we are not permitted to apply suncream in school.
A final decision regarding our residential trip to Windermere will be made in the next few weeks. As you will appreciate, there is a lot that needs to be carefully considered and, of course, the safety of the children and all accompanying staff has to be my absolute priority. I will be in touch soon to let you know the final outcome.
I hope that this newsletter has provided you with all the information that you need for now, but please do not hesitate to contact me by email if you have any other queries at email@example.com or via the message section on ClassDojo- I do check my email frequently during the day and will get back to you as quickly as possible!
Finally, the Year 3 page on the school website is all updated and ready for Summer term so please have a look!
